Dr. John earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. He then completed his internal medicine residency at UT Austin Dell Medical School, where he was selected as Chief Resident — a role reserved for residents who demonstrate outstanding clinical skill, teaching ability, and professionalism.
Following residency, Dr. John pursued advanced subspecialty training in gastroenterology through a three-year fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). During his fellowship, Dr. John received comprehensive training in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), ERCP, capsule endoscopy, and advanced polypectomy techniques. He was selected as Chief Fellow, reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence, mentorship of junior trainees, and academic contributions to the program.
Board Certifications
Dr. John holds dual board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM):
- ABIM Board Certification in Gastroenterology — Demonstrates verified expertise in the diagnosis and management of diseases and conditions affecting the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
- ABIM Board Certification in Internal Medicine — Confirms comprehensive competence in the evaluation and management of complex adult medical conditions, providing a strong clinical foundation for subspecialty practice.
