Dr. Jaison John is a board-certified gastroenterologist and the founder of Texas Gut Health. He is committed to providing expert, compassionate digestive health care to patients throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Dr. John brings fellowship-trained expertise, leadership-level clinical training, and a genuine dedication to treating every patient with kindness and respect.

Dr. John completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he was selected as Chief Fellow — a distinction recognizing clinical excellence and leadership among his peers. Prior to fellowship, he served as Chief Resident in the Internal Medicine residency program at UT Austin Dell Medical School.

Education & Training

Dr. John earned his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. He then completed his internal medicine residency at UT Austin Dell Medical School, where he was selected as Chief Resident — a role reserved for residents who demonstrate outstanding clinical skill, teaching ability, and professionalism.

Following residency, Dr. John pursued advanced subspecialty training in gastroenterology through a three-year fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). During his fellowship, Dr. John received comprehensive training in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), ERCP, capsule endoscopy, and advanced polypectomy techniques. He was selected as Chief Fellow, reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence, mentorship of junior trainees, and academic contributions to the program.

Board Certifications

Dr. John holds dual board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM):

  • ABIM Board Certification in Gastroenterology — Demonstrates verified expertise in the diagnosis and management of diseases and conditions affecting the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.
  • ABIM Board Certification in Internal Medicine — Confirms comprehensive competence in the evaluation and management of complex adult medical conditions, providing a strong clinical foundation for subspecialty practice.

  • GERD and esophageal disorders — Evaluation and treatment of chronic acid reflux, Barrett's esophagus, esophageal strictures, and swallowing disorders.
  • Liver disease — Assessment and monitoring of fatty liver disease (NAFLD/MASLD), hepatitis, and cirrhosis, including FibroScan liver elastography.
